The St. Paul's JV Tennis team traveled North this past Friday night to play a Lake's Region match against the Holderness Bulls. Starting off with doubles, SPS fell behind 3-0 as the pairings of Matthew Liu and
Maksym Sendziuk,
Harry Eichelberger and Vin Chutijirawong, and Tony Lai and
Sergio Chedraui Serrano fell 1 – 8, 1- 8, and 4 – 8, respectively. Down 3 -0, the Big Red needed a spark, and they found it as they sent out the first four singles players. Jeb Stegall (8 – 1),
Henry Dennis ( 8 – 3), Tom Wang (8 – 0), and Nico Davalos (8 – 1) all won in dominating fashion in order to give SPS the lead up 4 - 3. In the final singles matches, Tony and Sergio returned to the court in search of the deciding point for the overall match, and they both came through. Sergio won 8 – 0 to clinch the match for SPS, and soon after Tony won 8 – 2 for an extra point with his teammates cheering him on. After this exciting victory, the Big Red will look to continue this momentum with a home matchup against KUA this Saturday.
