The St. Paul's girls JV hockey squad started off the new year with a bang with an 8-0 win over the Proctor Hornets up at the Hornet's nest in Andover, NH. After a nice winter break and almost a month off from competitive games, the JV hockey team did not miss a beat as they returned to the ice with a commanding performance over Proctor. Ali Cabot got the scoring started in the first period finishing with a nice shot off a great centering pass from
Chandler Curtis. A few minutes later
Meg Bohan was able to bang one home on a rebound from Callie Fortin's shot to go up 2-0. Ellie Evans scored midway through the first period to increase the lead to 3-0 which is where it stayed until late in the opening frame when
Marina Kane scored from nearly behind the goal shot on a pass from
Chandler Curtis to make it 4-0 after one period. In the second period,
Meg Bohan added her second goal which was quickly followed by Ellie Evans scoring her second goal on the day to grow the lead to 6-0. Kitty Diamond was tenacious in front of the net as she knocked in our seventh goal of the contest in the third period. In the waning moments of the game,
Marina Kane was able to set up Allegra Caracappa for her first goal of the season. Final score 8-0. One of the game's highlights was
Emerson Bentley who stepped into the goalie pads to cover for our ailing starting goalie, and Emerson recorded her first shut out between the pipes. Overall, a wonderful team win as the girls team improves to 4-0 and looks ahead to taking on the Bulls of Holderness at home on Saturday.
