The girls JV hockey team continued their winning ways with a spirited victory over the Bulls of Holderness on a Saturday afternoon match up on the home ice of Gordon rink.
Thayer Demers got the scoring started on a nice shot off a feed from Ali Cabot- D to D for a goal.
Meg Bohan added the second goal off a rebound from a Callie Fortin shot and the Pelicans were up 2-0 after 6 minutes of play. The Big Red would not find the back of the net again until the second period when
Emerson Bentley scored on a wrist shot off a feed from
Meg Bohan. A few minutes later, a
Marina Kane pass found
Chandler Curtis who scored on a beautiful shot. Holderness would not go quietly, and a scrum in front of the SPS net allowed Holderness to bang one home and it was 4-1. The Pelicans responded quickly as
Meg Bohan scored her second goal of the game from a pass given by
Emerson Bentley and
Marina Kane scored the Big Red's sixth goal from an Ali Cabot cross crease feed. The third period saw some line adjustments and some nifty passing from the girls squad. Finlay Goring scored on a rebound of an
Emerson Bentley shot and the lead was extended to 7-1. Ellie Evans scored the last goal of the game on a scrum in front as the girls finished the game up 8-1. Parker Neilsen, coming back from illness, played an excellent game in net for the Pelicans helping the team to earn a 5-0 record. The girls have a week of practice ahead before St. Paul's hosts the JV girls hockey jamboree on Saturday.
