The girls JV hockey squad extended their winning streak to 11 games with a hard-fought victory over the other "Big Red" of Phillips Exeter on Wednesday at Gordon rink. The game was a back-and-forth battle with both teams earning quality scoring opportunities throughout the day.
Parker Neilson in goal for the Pelicans held strong as she recorded another shut out turning away every Exeter shot and scoring chance on the day. SPS got on the board early with
Chandler Curtis knocking in a goal two minutes into the game during a scrum in front and the SPS Big Red had the lead 1-0. SPS would not find the net again until the second period when Ali Cabot took the puck from the defensive end and skated through five Exeter players and scored to make it 2-0 SPS. Gracen Arndt cross crease who scored with a nice finish to extend the lead to 3-0. Exeter would not go quietly as the battle continued throughout the third with Exeter pulling their goalie late in the game. However, SPS held strong and walked off with a 3-0 victory. The SPS squad looks to prepare for an away match up against the Hoggers of Northfield Mount Hermon on Saturday.
