Big Red sweep Wildcats

Wednesday, April 23, was a beautiful spring day for tennis with gracious hosts at Kimball Union Academy as the SPS girls varsity team finished 9-0 for their second win of the week and heads into the second half of the season.

With the captains stepping away from the top two spots for the day, Char Machiels '25 at #1 and Emery Gay '26 at #3 rose to the occasion; both turned in scores of 6-1, 6-1. Amelia Guest '25 at #2 and Lily Chibnik '28 at #6, making her varsity singles debut, finished quickly with 6-0, 6-0 scores. In the #4 spot, Clara Tcherepnin '26 handled her opponent with an efficient 6-1, 6-2 victory. Didi Machiels '28 made her varsity singles debut in the #5 spot and cruised through her first set 6-0, then stuck it out through a tiebreaker for the second set that went her way, 7-4.

Taking to the courts in the top doubles position, Ariadna Rubiralta Kunze '27 and Daisy Singer '27 finished 8-3, as did Sixth Formers Logan Bensadoun and Rhys Rountree at #2. Third Formers Didi Machiels and Amelia Chun extended their winning streak in #3 doubles to three victories after a zippy 8-2 match.
