24 SPS T&F Team members and three coaches traveled to the Division I NEPSTA meet, hosted by Deerfield Academy on Saturday, May 17. The week leading up to the meet, the weather looked dicey; however, after a very light drizzle in the mid-morning, the sun was shining through the end of the last event, the 4x400. Temps in the mid-70s with a faint breeze made for some warm race conditions and near-ideal throwing conditions.
The boys and girls scored in the top 10 overall:
- Boys: 800, Javelin, High Jump, Triple Jump
- Girls: 1500, 800, Javelin
Notable performances:
- Teigan Pelletier earning a PB in the High Jump, clearing 6'4" and the silver medal before attempting 6'6" (note the school record stands at 6'4.5").
- Andrew Carroll showcasing grit and resilience in the 800 after being boxed into last for much of the race, coming from behind to claim second place and a 3 second PR at just one hundredth of a second away from the school record.
- Josh Samuels jumping his way to a quarter inch victory in the boys Triple Jump at 42.5'.
- Aedyn Kourakos blasting from 5th to 1st in the homestretch of the 800m to claim victory after breaking her own school record in the 1500 in 4:40.49.
- Cami Capdevila consistently launching throws in the low 110's, finishing at 111' in the Javelin to claim third place–this performance set Cami up nicely for Nike Nationals in June.
- Iris Lamoreauz notching a 103' throw and all-New England Honors in the Javelin after a75' initial throw, promising to throw farther next year.
