The SPS Track and Field team welcomed Austin Prep, NMH, and Winsor to the Tien Track for our opening meet of the season. The sun was out, and the wind tried its best to put a damper on some high-flying performances, but nonetheless, the Big Red athletes and their competitors put on a show. SPS was able to win multiple events on both sides, including:
Girls: 200m, 800m, 1500m, 100m hurdles, 4x400m relay, Discus.
Boys: 100m, 200m, 800m, 1500m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, Javelin.
Notable performances include Abbey Hafer taking home the titles in the 200m and 100m hurdles, Owen Gorenc winning the 1500m by 15 seconds, Samson Davis throwing his way to victory in the Javelin, Dave Osunde sweeping the 100m and 200m, Aedyn Kourakos picking up where she left off last season by holding off competitors in the 800m and 1500m, Callie Fortin notching the win in the Discus by one inch, Charlie Harvey catching stride en route to his 800m victory, and all relay participants putting individual glory aside to earn points for their team.Â
The SPS girls' team topped the overall points table, winning the meet, while the boys placed second behind NMH. Congratulations to all SPS T&F members who competed in their first meet! Next on the docket, the Big Red track teams will host the Big Blue of Andover on Wednesday, April 15th.Â
