This win for St. Paul's was an impressive display of talent and grit. In doubles, Kyan and Hunter had an early lead but Andover's top duo took the set in a very close battle. James and Max were serving well and in the lead before the match was stopped by decision. Alex and Cesc came up short at number 3, which clinched the doubles point for Andover. While disappointed that we did not earn the doubles point, we were ready to put up a fight in singles. Max, Kyan, and James finished first with impressive straight set wins. Hunter and Alex were entertaining the crowd with some long points, involving a variety of shots. Alex won the first set with an amazing comeback and tiebreaker win. In the second set, Alex's opponent was cramping and could not continue. Hunter almost took his second set after being down, but Andover's number one made some solid shots in the end. Cesc, who was not feeling well all day, due to a head cold and had tissues scattered around the bench, was the last man standing. He came back to win his secondset, sending the match to a 3rd set tie breaker. We all got to watch Cesc play some incredible baseline to baseline rallies in this high level #6 match. Go Big Red! Next up we head to KUA on Saturday, 4/18.
