St. Paul's School wrestling team showcased a dominant performance against St. Sebastian's School, securing a resounding 60-24 victory. The match, held on December 7th, saw several impressive individual performances, contributing to the team's commanding win.
The match began at the 120-pound weight class, setting the tone for the day. Caitlin O'Reilly quickly pinned her opponent, Connor Martin, in just 26 seconds, giving SPS an early 6-0 lead. This momentum continued as
Ciaran O'Reilly followed suit with another quick pin at 126 pounds, defeating TK Faria in 31 seconds, extending the lead to 12-0.
The lower weights proved to be a strong point for St. Paul's.
Markus Lu (106 lbs) secured a fall over Henry Bowman in a mere 32 seconds, while
Noah Lu (113 lbs) received a forfeit, further widening the gap. Charlie Lussier (138 lbs) and
Ian Chang (144 lbs) also contributed with decisive pins, adding to the team's impressive score.
Kallen Fitzpatrick (175 lbs) also added a pin to the score for St. Paul's.
St. Sebastian's managed to secure some victories in the middle weights. Jack Powell (132 lbs), Ray Usechek (150 lbs), Nolan Wishart (157 lbs), and Carter Rich (165 lbs) all earned wins for St. Sebastian's. However, St. Paul's strength in the other weight classes proved to be too much to overcome.
St. Paul's also capitalized on forfeits in the upper weights. Alex High (190 lbs), Mike Seward (215 lbs), and
Braden Gilligan (285 lbs) all received forfeits, adding valuable points to the final score and solidifying the team's victory.
