The St. Paul's School Big Red Golf Team began their Lake's Region schedule with a match against the Huskies of New Hampton School on Saturday afternoon at the Concord Country Club. The SPS golfers were excited to play in their first match at the new home course of the Big Red Golf Team, and played competitively against the Huskies before eventually falling after the final rounds completed.

In the first pairing of matches, #1
Patrick Cooley defeated his opponent, 2&1 to earn the first point of the match. His partner, #2
William Birks played his opponent well to draw the match and earn a half point, while the Patrick and William lost in combined Best Ball to leave the overall score 1.5 – 1.5 as the first round finished. #3
William Carroll and #4
Ryan Vohra were in the second pairing. Both Ryan and Will played well, earning the point from the combined Best Ball competition, but both fell individually to their opponents. With two rounds complete, the Big Red trailed the Huskies 2.5 – 3.5. The final pairing of #5
Avery Ferraris and #6 Henry Gu finished the match with Henry defeating his opponent 1 up by winning on the ninth hole. In the combined Best Ball format, the Huskies won, clinching the match and making the final score: SPS – 3.5 NHS – 5.5.

Overall, the Big Red golfers competed well against their opponents and continued to demonstrate improvement in only their second ever match of competitive play. Now that the season is full swing, the SPS Big Red golfers will face the Big Red of Exeter on Wednesday, as the two teams face off at 2:30pm at the Concord Country Club.
