On a rainy Saturday in Concord, the SPS Golf Team took on the Holderness Bulls. In a closely contested match, the Big Red fell short of victory by a score of 3 – 6. In the first round of matches, #1
Ryan Vohra and #2
William Birks fell to their opponents in both the individual and best ball matchups. Ryan shot the low SPS round of the day with a 39, and William shot a 42, but the top Bulls Golfers were too consistent for SPS to gain a point. In the second round, #3
James Bohm jumped out to an early lead against his opponent and stayed consistent throughout the round but eventually fell to the Holderness #3 shooting a round of 40. #4
Callum Green's match went down to the final hole, however his match-tying putt just lipped out, and he lost his match to his opponent by 1 with a round of 42. Although the match was settled at this point, the depth of the Big Red overwhelmed the Bulls in the final matchup. #5
Nolan Chen and #6
Paul Sauter swept their matchups to earn three points for the Big Red. Nolan shot a 40 and won his match on the seventh hole, 3&2. Paul shot a 43 and overwhelmed his opponent as well, winning on the sixth hole, 4&3. They also combined to win their best ball match, earning all three points from their pairing. Although the Big Red did not win on this day, they will take the experience and lessons learned from this match forward heading into the final regular season matchups and the Lakes Region Tournament Play. The Big Red look forward to another competitive week facing the Big Blue of Andover at Andover, and then a tri-match against Brooks and Governors at the Concord Country Club.
