The Big Red of St. Paul's School faced the Big Red of Exeter on Wednesday at the Concord Country Club. On a beautiful spring day in New Hampshire, the SPS golfers played well, playing competitive matches against a top high school golf program in New England. After playing eight varsity matches and additional exhibition matches, the SPS golfer earned two hard-fought points, but fell to Exeter 2 – 6.

#1 Patrick Cooley and #2 William Birks started the match off well against their opponents. Although they faced an early deficit, they continued battling until the end, losing 2&1 and 3&2 on the 8th and 7th holes. Next off, #3 Will Carroll and #4 Matt Vohra teed off. Both played well but fell against strong opposition, with final results of 4&3 for each. SPS got its first point of the afternoon with #5 Ryan Vohra winning 1up with a birdie on the final hole. #6  Avery Ferraris and #8 Sammy Pargiolas also faced strong opposition from Exeter and lost their matches 4&2 and 4&3. Henry Gu earned the second point in the match, with a 1up win against his opponent at the #7 spot to make the official match score 2 – 6. In addition to these matches, Gabby Smith and Hannah Hwang played exhibition matches and competed hard before falling to their opponents 3&1 and 3&2.

The SPS Golf team will have a week off before returning to Lakes Region Competition next Wednesday at home against KUA, as they look to start the second half of the season strong with a win.
