On a beautiful New Hampshire spring day, the St. Paul's School Golf team won a key Lakes Region matchup verses the Huskies of the New Hampton School. The Big Red had success throughout the ladder, as each pairing earned points against their opponents. In the first pairing, #1
Ryan Vohra played well against his opponent but fell short, losing his match against his opponent 3&2. #2
James Bohm earned a critical point with a win in his match 2&1, and the combination of Ryan and James halved their best ball match against New Hampton. This left the overall match even at 1.5 points each. #3 and #4 golfers
Callum Green and
Chay Simons helped to open up a lead in the second round. Callum used strong putting to build up a big lead over his opponent and won his match 4 & 3. Chay battled throughout against his opponent but could not match him on the day and lost his match 2&1. The pairing of Callum and Chay were able to secure the third point in their match, making the team score after two rounds 3.5 – 2.5. Heading into the final round, #5
Nolan Chen and #6 Henry Gu needed only 1.5 points to secure the win, and they came through to win the day. Both Nolan and Henry won their individual matches 4&3 and 2&1, respectively, with Henry shooting the low round of the day for the Big Red. Combined, they tied their best ball match against their opponents, securing a win with the final total of 6 – 3. The Big Red will look to build off on this momentum as we head to Exeter to face Exeter and Cushing on Wednesday.
